Ethiopian HERQA shuts 5 colleges

The Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HERQA) board on September 5 decided to close five colleges based on an investigation conducted over the past year to identify and determine the levels of Ethiopian higher educational institutions. The agency has investigated 75 institutions which took legal accreditation in late 2010 and found 57 qualified and 18 unqualified institutions. The group went to the compounds of the institutions and collected information to categorize colleges in three levels.
